First Olympic Gold in Rifle Competition
Olympic Gold Medalist Nancy Johnson |
Today, the First 2000 Olympic Gold was brought home to the US by Nancy Johnson of Downer's Grove, Illinois
in the 10 meter Air Rifle Competition.
When Ms. Johnson began shooting, she was originally drawn to archery, but
the lack of a local archery range turned her toward air rifle competition. At just
sixteen, she made her first trip to Camp Perry.
Among her earlier achievements, Ms. Johnson had won a Gold at the
1996 Atlanta World Cup in Womens Air Rifle.
